I Pre-Proposal Bidders Conference I

MSDE hosts a pre-proposal conference for all organizations interested in submitting an application for a charter school grant. Pre-proposal conference attendance is recommended for the entire session if your organization plans to submit a proposal.

Please RSVP to charterschools@msde.state.md.us.

Developing a charter school in Maryland? Get help every step of the way from the comfort of your home or office. MCSN is offering its popular Charter School Application Development Series. In this  workshop series, we take participants step-by-step from the beginning of the application process all the way through to submission of a proposal. Workshops are offered at no charge and provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions and share information.

Our popular webinar series is being repeated and we're moving the date and time in response to overwhelming demand for sessions on consecutive Saturday mornings, from 9 AM to 11 AM .

Each webinar begins with an interactive online visual presentation that you will review on your computer screen. You will listen and interact with talented instructors with national expertise through regular telephone lines. There is no special software; it is simple and convenient!

 

designing your school. This workshop will cover: Mission, Vision, Philosophy, and Crafting a Charter Application.

Operation Plan. This workshop will cover organizational, governing, and administrative structures and implementation of the charter.

educational plan - part 1. This workshop will cover: Educational Focus, Educational Needs, Goals, and Community Involvement.

educational plan - part 2. This workshop will cover: Instructional Methodology and Professional Development.

educational plan - part 3. This workshop will cover: Instructional Methodology and Professional Development.

Special Education. This workshop will cover legal responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the individualized education program (IEP) process, implementation of a special education program, and a discussion of liability issues in Maryland.

Facilities. This workshop will cover the basics of facility planning, needs assessment, site selection, construction, and financing.

JUNE 7─ACCOUNTABILITY. This workshop will cover how to develop an accountability plan.

JUNE 14─BUSINESS PLAN. This workshop will cover finance, financial planning and accounting, insurance, and audits.

JUNE 28─FROM PLAN TO IMPLEMENTATION . 9:30am - 3:30 pm    This workshop will take Maryland School developers beyond the initial planning and writing of the application to the elements necessary in the practical implementation of their school. Instructors Jamie Stone and Gladys Graham
